8:00 a.m. Summit Check-In & Continental Breakfast

During Summit Check-In, you will receive your name badge and handouts for the Summit. Also, take this time to network with other professionals and key industry partners.

8:30 am Straight from the State

What is better than hearing directly from the state agencies that oversee assisted living? This expert panel will include key representatives from the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) the Ohio Department of Aging (ODA), and the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). As you know, Ohio assisted living communities are surveyed for licensure by ODH while the waiver program is managed and regulated between ODA and ODM. Attendees will hear updates from the agencies as well as learn what tools are available to the providers from these state agencies.

An excellent opportunity for Ohio assisted living providers to hear first-hand, 'Straight from the State.'

2. Let's Take This Show on the Road! How to Market your Dining Services Department in the Community

It's a competitive marketplace in which we work, and exceptional service, high-quality food, and appealing choices at mealtimes can be a deciding factor when one considers moving into a senior living community. Food should be nourishing, enjoyable, and fun! What better way to showcase your dining services team than to go out into the local community and show them what you offer every day. From cooking demos to farm-to-table, to taking part in the 'best food in town' competitions, all these and more are great ways to promote your dining services department and organization. This session will share examples of how dining services can assist in marketing your organization and be a great community partner at the same time.

Presented by: Matthew Ridgway, CDM, CEC, CCA

3. Census Strategies for 2020: High Impact/Low-Cost Ways to Meet Assisted Living Occupancy Goals Amidst Change

Assisted living communities are facing increased occupancy challenges that directly impact the bottom line. Some potential causes are more housing and health care choices, shorter lengths of stay, and oversaturated markets. This program addresses the key issues impacting today's assisted living communities and identifies proven ways to jump-start and sustain a high occupancy even with the most limited of budgets. OHCA will provide attendees census building tools that providers can immediately implement within their organizations, so the start of the New Year can realize results. It's a must-attend workshop for assisted living leaders that take ownership of their census.

Ensuring proper training is crucial to providing quality care and to resident and staff satisfaction. This course will provide an overview of training materials available for you to implement at your organization. Leave with practical tools and tips on dementia training for your team.

This session's mix of lecture and practical application allows participants to leave with sample tools to apply immediately in their organization.

2:30 pm Networking Break

2:45 pm Creating Drama Free Teams That Get Results

Leading a high-trust, high-performance team that gets results is possible. It's also possible to do it without putting in more hours and working harder. Creating an ownership culture free of drama, victim mentalities, and blame assigning helps leaders leverage their most valuable asset--their team members. This interactive workshop will give you the practical skills you need to eliminate all the excuses not only from your team but every relationship today. We teach what we know, but we produce who you are so the best way to coach the drama out of your team is to become a dream coach. Great coaches and leaders are not born; they are developed. That's good news. It means we can learn the tools we can use to draw out the best in our people. You can learn these secrets too, and it's not as hard as you think.
