Activities Critical Element Pathway

The purpose of the webinar is for Activity Professionals to know how to use the Activities Critical Element to make certain that they are meeting all of the mental, physical, and psychosocial well-being of each resident and encouraging both independence and interaction in the community.

The participant will have knowledge of:
1. How to use the MDS/CAAs to determine the resident?s abilities and routines
2. The role of the care plan in the Activities Critical element Pathway
3. What the role of the Activity Staff is in helping the resident to meet their goals.
4. What is the role of the nursing staff with relationship to activities and the resident's goals
5. How the Social Services play a role in activities and the resident
6. What is the Record Review for Activities and how will it affect the survey

Continuing Education Credits:

This program is approved for one (1) hour of credit for nursing home administrators and nurses. *Application has also been made for one (1) hour of credit for activity professionals by the National Certification Council for Activity Professionals (NCCAP).

Registration Fees:
Members: $55 (prior to 9/10/19)
$75 (9/10/19 and after)

Non-Members: $130 (prior to 9/10/19
$175 (9/10/19 and after)


How much does it cost?
Facilities will pay one low fee for an unlimited number of participants. However, the number and access code is valid only for one phone line/computer at the location registered with the Association. Any additional telephone numbers/computers calling in will be billed for the registration fee.

Have a conflict the day or time of the call or just want other shifts to be able to hear the program? This program is being recorded and a cd-rom along with the handouts is available for purchase. CEUs are not available for listening to the CD.

Linda McNeal-White, BS, ACC

Linda McNeal, ACC, received her certification in Activity Therapy in 1988 and became a Nationally Certified Activity Consultant in 1990. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in alternative therapies and became a certified Aroma Therapist in 1998. She is a certified instructor of the MEPAP Training Course for Activity Directors. Linda has served as an Activity Consultant to a number of nursing facilities, Assisted Living communities and Adult Day Care centers. She received the Dr. Charles Peckham Award, which is the highest merit in the field of activities. She also received the Ohio Health Care Association Activity Director of the Year and the Riverside Methodist Hospital Volunteer Staff Appreciation Award. Linda published two activity manuals and has written a new program to improve the quality of life for nursing home residents. Linda owned her own consulting company for activities and behavior management where she served as consultant to a number of facilities in several states. During this time she helped facilities become compliant in F248 and F249. Currently she is the Community Life Coordinator for Friendship Village Columbus overseeing the Assisted Living, Memory Support Unit and the Health Care Center. Linda's greatest passion is to have all facilities see their elders as persons who have hopes, dreams, desires and something to contribute to life that brings the sparkle to their eyes.
