Medicare: The Ins and Outs of Skilling

4 CEs for NHA, CPA, Nurses

February 19, Columbus

PDPM has made the recognition of skilled nursing services more important than ever. Failure to recognize the clinical components of the PDPM system can reduce the length of stay for a PDPM resident. Presumption of coverage under PDPM has changed and will be reviewed during this session. The biggest challenge the SNF team faces is knowing when skilled coverage is proper and how to document all the efforts made by the SNF staff to assure timely reimbursement and future audit success. The program will review Medicare technical eligibility requirements, the Skilled Medicare criteria and the documentation requirements for skilled services.

Topics Include:

Introduction to Medicare in a Skilled Nursing Facility
Different types of Medicare Benefits
Understanding SNF Benefit Period
Technical Eligibility requirements
Skilled Coverage requirements
Ensuring Regulatory Compliance with meeting the daily skilled need
Managing the Documentation Process
