This session will discuss the components of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) and the DON?s role and responsibilities for QAPI.

Projected Learning Outcomes/Course Objectives: At the conclusion of each session, the learner will:
1. Understand the components of a QAPI program
2. Describe methods that can be used in performance improvement efforts
3. Describe the DON?s roles and responsibilities related to QAPI program implementation
4. Understand how QAPI activities can be used to improve quality metrics




What to Expect:
Grow skill and insight for serving effectively as the DON or in other nurse leadership roles

Target Audience:
Nurse leaders including new or experienced DONs, ADONs, charge nurses, unit managers, staff interested in serving in a permanent or interim DON role, Administrators, Corporate Staff




All programs will be held 2:30 pm - 4 pm EST

Janine Lehman, RN, RAC-CT, CLNC Director of Legal Nurse Consulting

Janine is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years? experience in long term care, working in all nursing capacities from Nursing Assistant and Charge Nurse, to MDS Coordinator, Staff Development Coordinator, ADON and DON. She is MDS Certified through AANAC, and is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. Her background includes serving as a Corporate Nurse Consultant, and the Director of Clinical Services for a multi-facility, multi-level of care organization. Janine serves as a founding member of the Kentucky RUG Task Force Committee, and has served on the Case Mix Appeals Panel and IDR Panel as a provider representative, as well as serving on the Kentucky Medicaid Technical Advisory Committee. She has extensive experience in the RAI process, clinical documentation, legal nurse consulting, restorative nursing programs, fall management, QAPI, and infection control, and has provided training on these topics for State and National organizations.

Shelly Maffia, MSN, MBA, RN, LNHA, QCP, CHC, CLNC, CPC Director of Regulatory Services

Shelly Maffia is a Registered Nurse and Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with experience serving as an Administrator, Director of Nursing, and as a multi-site Corporate Nurse Consultant. She holds AAPACN's QAPI Certified Professional (QCP) credential, is certified in healthcare compliance through the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA) and is an Infection Preventionist. She presents extensively on LTC clinical, regulatory, and compliance matters.

One (1.0) contact hours each session; Nursing Home Administrators - Ohio BELTSS. Ohio Nurses may use this approval toward their licensure renewal.


How Much Does It Cost?

Registration & CE provided for one person. Name changes for series registrants will not be available. Webinars are recorded and will be provided at no additional charge to paid registrants. However, CEs are not available for viewing a recording.
