6-week series beginning October 30

This webinar series reviews best practices for wound prevention and wound care management. Emphasis will be on avoiding common areas where facilities go wrong related to assessment, care planning, treatment, documentation and coding, and effective communication protocols related to skin and wound care management.

* Avoid common pitfalls in wound care programs that contribute to poor clinical outcomes, survey deficiencies and potential litigation






All programs will be held 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm EST

October 30 - Skin/Wound Assessment Fundamentals
Enhance your grasp of skin and wound assessment basics in this session which is ideal for new or seasoned staff. Improve skills in accurately assessing and documenting the status of wounds and gain insight into common assessment pitfalls that can result in survey deficiencies and potential litigation.

November 6 - Wound MDS Coding & CAA Documentation Essentials
Gain insight into the MDS coding requirements for wounds, as well as the vital components for wound-related CAA documentation. Common wound-related coding errors will be explored with tips for how to avoid them.

November 13 - Key Elements of Care Planning for Wound Care
Understand and implement the key elements of wound-related care planning. Tips and strategies will be discussed on effectively addressing resident wounds without excess duplication of interventions, and best practices for keeping wound care plans current and up-to-date as the wound heals.

November 20 - Wound Care Management Best Practices
Develop a comprehensive understanding of wound care treatment/management best practices. Treatment protocols and techniques will be discussed along with guidelines for when to make changes to the treatment modality in place.

December 4 - Wound Care Documentation & Notification Essentials
Comply with requirements for notification of the MD and resident representative related to the onset and status of resident wounds, changes in wound status or treatment(s). Document notifications comprehensively and understand common pitfalls associated with wound notification/documentation will also be explored.

December 11 - Wound Prevention and QAPI Necessities
Participants will gain insight into best practices for wound prevention and how to incorporate critical wound care program information into the facility QAPI program.
Janine Lehman, RN, RAC-CT, CLNC
Director of Legal Nurse Consulting

Janine is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years? experience in long term care, working in all nursing capacities from Nursing Assistant and Charge Nurse, to MDS Coordinator, Staff Development Coordinator, ADON and DON. She is MDS Certified through AANAC, and is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant. Her background includes serving as a Corporate Nurse Consultant, and the Director of Clinical Services for a multi-facility, multi-level of care organization. She has extensive experience in the RAI process, clinical documentation, legal nurse consulting, wound care, restorative nursing programs, fall management, QAPI, and infection control, and has provided training on these topics for State and National organizations.
One (1.0) contact hours each session; Nursing Home Administrators - NAB approved through Proactive LTC Consulting. Ohio Nurses may use this approval toward their licensure renewal.


How Much Does It Cost?

Registration & CE provided for one person. Name changes for series registrants will not be available. Webinars are recorded and will be provided at no additional charge to paid registrants. However, CEs are not available for viewing a recording.
