Maintenance In Assisted Living - What Maintenance Directors Need to Know (March)

Today Maintenance of a senior living facility is of utmost importance. The maintenance supervisor is expected to be a strategic planner and stay on top of and ahead of repairs, maintenance, capital item replacements, expenses, and projects. It is critical to have an understanding complex building and occupancy issues as well as be well versed in Life Safety Codes and Long-Term care regulations. This session will explore the maintenance expected at today's assisted living communities including the routine facility checks, logs, and inspections as well as the required Life Safety Code inspection, testing and maintenance required including all emergency preparedness plans. Using real life examples and survey scenarios, the session will explore how the code is applied; discuss code changes and increased ITM requirements; and review common violations. Understand practical applications of the Life Safety Code and learn from Life Safety experts on what to prepare for a successful survey. There?s a lot riding on compliance and being prepared is essential.

Instructor:
Kenneth Daily is President of Elder Care Systems Group, and President of a national long term care consulting firm specializing in quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and education. A licensed NH administrator, Mr. Daily has been involved with working with facilities developing and implementing emergency preparedness plans for more than decade. He is a member of the Ohio Health Care Association Board of Trustees and chairman of the OHCA's Life Safety and Disaster Management Committee as well as a former member of the AHCA Disaster Committee and current member of AHCA's the Life Safety Committee and the NFPA's Healthcare Section. Mr. Daily has lectured nationwide on ways to improve the service and integrity of long term care. He is an author of numerous articles and professional guides.
