Dementia Care Basics

Have you ever wished your aides could access quick training on their phones or tablets? Perhaps in between client visits? OHCA is excited to share Dementia Care Basics for Home Care caregivers created by AGE-u-cate® Training Institute. While this training was specifically designed for home care caregivers, we believe that assisted living caregivers may also find the training valuable.

The training is engaging, device friendly, one-hour education consisting of 6 brief 10 minute modules that will prepare caregivers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to better care for persons living with dementia. Best of all these training modules are accessible from any device and pause when needed. A Certificate of Completion, valid for two years, will be issued upon successfully completing the course. The learner will identify:
  • Symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease and strategies to prevent or diffuse dementia-related behaviors
  • Communication techniques in relating to people with dementia
  • Dementia-friendly activities to enhance well-being
  • Methods of collaborating with elder’s family as part of the care team
